More on Audio Clipping

Yeah, this doesn’t have anything to do with Rush directly, but there’s a post on Blabbermouth that shows how crazy producers can get with pushing the limits of audio.

The reason I mention it is that Vapor Trails suffered from the same clipping issue and the Blabbermouth post does an audio A/B comparison on a track from Metallica’s Death Magnet. Given the massive difference in the quality of what Metallica released on CD vs. what is being used on Guitar Hero, one can only wonder what Vapor Trails could have sounded like.

Check out the two versions posted on Blabbermouth — it’s incredible, isn’t it?

Why do we, as music lovers, have to put up with this?

Rush Buyer’s Guide

Classic Rock has posted a Rush Buyer’s Guide that I’d say is a pretty good overview. Great observation by the author at the end  of the article:

For those of us who’ve grown up with Rush, their later albums are friends we’ve chosen, but the older ones are like family members. Some are harder to love, but we remain loyal to all.

Geddy Lee Has Balls to Spare

Cheesy title, eh? Believe me, it could’ve been much worse.

Anyhow… We all know that Geddy is a huge baseball fan but this article about his donation of signed baseballs to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum shows how much he cares not only for the game but its history as well.

Low key and unassuming as ever — you gotta love him.
