Keith Spera from The Times-Picayune had a nice interview with Alex Lifeson. Some of the items touched on are the erosion of the Rush mystique, the band’s plans for the future and Alex’s desire to do a tour where they play nothing but unplayed material:

We’ve got so much catalog. I’d love to do a tour where we just play stuff that we’ve never played before. Don’t play anything that we play now and call it the B-track Rush tour. Play some of the stuff nobody has ever heard us play live. That would be a lot of fun. There are lots of opportunities and directions that we can go.

Alex also discusses the Florida incident and their recent YYZ jam with the Foo Fighters.

Interview with Geddy Lee done by the National Post, titled “Rush Unhurried”:

“While there are no suites a la 2112 or fantasy epics like By-Tor and the Snow Dog on Snakes and Arrows, many of the songs recall 1978’s Hemispheres in using unexpected, angular chord changes. Coupled with Raskulinecz’s hard-edged production, this makes for edgy material, indeed.”

“I’m a cheap device for exposition,” Neil Peart says over the phone from California, establishing two things straightaway. One: he knows his function in his role in the Aqua Teen Hunger Force movie. Two: He’s a comedy buff, who goes on to explain that he’s quoting an old SCTV parody of Fantasy Island.

It’s well known that Geddy Lee is a baseball fanatic, but this recent article shows how deep his love for the game and collecting goes:

“In addition to fantasy and following the Jays, Geddy has a museum-quality baseball memorabilia collection. He collects autographed baseballs and has recently gotten into collecting game-used items. Baseballs signed by Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Christy Mathewson, Honus Wagner and Cy Young are just a few of his prized possessions.”

Yeah, I’d definitely say that’s “museum-quality”.

Quote from Geddy Lee that appears in Revolver, posted in AMR:

“It’s hard to describe,” said Lee. “It’s big, it’s bold, and I think it’s some of the best work we’ve done in years. I’m really pleased with the quality of the songs, and there’s lots of playing on it.”
