Rush Archives » Site News http://www.rusharchives.com Thu, 05 Jun 2008 12:41:52 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.5 en Rush Information Dashboard http://www.rusharchives.com/2008/05/14/rush-information-dashboard/ http://www.rusharchives.com/2008/05/14/rush-information-dashboard/#comments Wed, 14 May 2008 19:21:49 +0000 The Archivist http://www.rusharchives.com/?p=103 I was tooling around with a concept I’ve had — combining various RSS feeds with a Rush specific search engine — and have launched PantFlap. The site aggregates news feeds for Rush, Alex Lifeson, Geddy Lee and Neil Peart, as well as giving you a snapshot of what’s been posted online in various discussion forums/ boards and blogs.

If you have any sites that you think I should add, please let me know.

Dude, Where’s My Theme? http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/11/08/dude-wheres-my-theme/ http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/11/08/dude-wheres-my-theme/#comments Thu, 08 Nov 2007 16:58:27 +0000 The Archivist http://www.rusharchives.com/archives/90 Ah well, you can’t win them all.

I just updated WordPress to its latest version and now I’ve got to go back and re-do my customizations. I’m sure everyone is up-to-date regarding Rush and their tour, so I won’t bore you with any of those details.

However, Neil Peart did post an update to his news site. If you haven’t ventured over there, I highly recommend it. His updates are rather entertaining and insightful. The latest update confirms the old saying… “it’s a bitch getting old”.

Rush Search Engine http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/04/15/rush-search-engine/ http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/04/15/rush-search-engine/#comments Mon, 16 Apr 2007 03:58:41 +0000 The Archivist http://www.rusharchives.com/archives/79 Ever find yourself going to three or four different Rush sites looking for information? Tired of wading through thousands of pages in Google’s search results?

In order to highlight and organize all of the Rush-based web sites and discussion forums out there, I’ve created PantFlap. PantFlap ensures that your Rush related searches are free from clutter by searching specific websites. Give it a whirl and let me know what you think.

2007 World Tour Google Mapped http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/04/05/2007-world-tour-google-mapped/ http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/04/05/2007-world-tour-google-mapped/#comments Fri, 06 Apr 2007 04:54:29 +0000 The Archivist http://www.rusharchives.com/?p=68 Google Maps now allow you to create your own points of interest, in a very easy, non-technical way. To test it out, I mapped the locations for all the venues for the upcoming tour.

Please note, some of the locator pins may not be in the best place. As a result, if you choose to generate driving directions from (or should I say “to”) them, please review the map and don’t follow the directions blindly. Let this serve as a disclaimer — I’d hate for anyone to get lost based on what I’ve made. Use this as a guide only.

Check it out.

New Section: Wine Cellar http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/03/15/new-section-wine-cellar/ http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/03/15/new-section-wine-cellar/#comments Thu, 15 Mar 2007 18:42:35 +0000 The Archivist http://www.rusharchives.com/?p=48 I’ve added a section called “Wine Cellar” that provides links to wines that the guys have mentioned in interviews. More than likely, the links are not to the actual wines referenced, but as close to the region and vineyard as possible. I’m into wine, but have a long way to go (and many bottles to drink) before I’m as experienced as Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson.

First up, a listing of some of the wines Alex mentioned in the Wine Spectator interview.

Digital Sheetmusic http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/02/21/digital-sheetmusic/ http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/02/21/digital-sheetmusic/#comments Wed, 21 Feb 2007 13:47:43 +0000 The Archivist http://www.rusharchives.com/?p=34 Discovered muscinotes.com this morning. If you’re interested in purchasing digital sheetmusic by Rush, this is one source. Downloads available include all of side one (for those of you who remember the LP) for both Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures, “The Trees,” “Lakeside Park,” “Fly By Night” and more. Link has been added to the Music Transcriptions page.

Happy 2007 http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/01/17/hello-world/ http://www.rusharchives.com/2007/01/17/hello-world/#comments Thu, 18 Jan 2007 03:05:41 +0000 The Archivist No, you’re eyes aren’t fooling you… Rush Archives has changed its appearance.

One of the hassles of maintaining a site such as this is that it can be quite time consuming. Time which I haven’t had for a while now. Regardless, I still want the site to be up and useful to folks who come across it.

In a nutshell, I’ve changed the site from a static .html presentation to a WordPress powered one. WordPress is blog software and it enables quick creation and posting of stories, etc.

So maybe I’ll actually be able to squeeze in some news posts here and there… Anything would be an improvement of the sorry state of this site over the last couple of years.

Hopefully I’ll get some graphics up on here and some other info but the primary purpose is to get the news flowing again.

So with that, I leave you with a link to this cool site I came across. Read the interview and check out the pictures at the very bottom. Very cool!
